Trials coming up for Panorama GDL academy teams

In preparation for next year's Gauteng Development League, trials will take place on 27 and 28 October.

After an average finish to the 2018 Gauteng Development League (GDL), Panorama Football Club (Pano) will be looking to bolster their squads with trials coming up this month.

Despite the average 2018 GDL campaign, it has been a landmark year for Pano, which now finally has a South African Breweries League team of its own. The SAB League is the fourth tier of professional football in South Africa, and for amateur clubs like Pano, it acts as a stepping stone on the path to becoming a professional club.

But before they can play in the SAB League, young players in Gauteng need to ply their trade in the GDL, a league for soccer players between the ages of 13 and 19. Granted, if they’re good enough, the U/17 and U/19 players can also play in the SAB League.

As we near the end of the year, it is time for Pano to once again hold trials for its academy teams (U/13, U/15, U/17, and U/19) to take part in next year’s GDL competition. While the teams will only start practising together in January next year after the December break, the club would like to register any new players as soon as possible.

For the U/13 team, players born in 2006 will be eligible for selection. For the U/15 team, players will have to be born in 2004/ 2005 to be eligible. Players will have to be born in 2002/ 2003 to be eligible for the U/17 team, and born in 2000/ 2001 for the U/19 team.

In order to be considered for selection, hopeful players must have an original form of identification with them. Be it an original ID (U/17+) or an original birth certificate (U/13 to U/15), it must be the original form of identification.

The trials will begin at 9am sharp on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 October. If you would like more information, you can contact the team manager, Fabian Brooks, on 076 896 1257.
