Panorama U/9s conclude season unbeaten

After winning all 12 league games and the Steven Pienaar Tournament, the U/9 team's phenomenal season finally draws to a close.

Panorama Football Club’s U/9 team has gone through an incredible season this year, going unbeaten in all competitions, and only conceding six goals in the league.

The club’s most successful team across all age groups this year, the U/9s have been anywhere and everywhere this year, but no matter where they went, they were invincible. In its own unique way, the season gone by resembles the incredible 49-game run that Arsenal went through in the 2003/ 04 season that saw them take on the nickname, ‘The Invincibles’.

Not only did they have an unbeaten season, but the boys (and one girl) broke new ground, becoming the first ‘outside team’ to win the Steven Pienaar Tournament in Westbury. Their journey in the tournament was also unbeaten, and they didn’t concede a single goal in the six games they played in Westbury. By the time the tournament had finished, Panorama had reached the halfway mark of their Rand West Local Football Association league unbeaten, having won all of their games up to that point.

Following their success in Westbury, the U/9s set out to conquer Cape Town, embarking on a tour which taught them all valuable lessons. They returned home after the tour looking to continue their dominance of the league.

They continued the second half of their league as they did the first, winning the remainder of their games, to win all 12 of their league matches. Not only were they unbeaten, but they scored 41 goals and only conceded six throughout the entire season.

The children’s phenomenal performances boil down to the incredibly hard work done by the two-man coaching team, Richard Walker and Llewellyn Bennett. The team of coaches has taken a group of ordinary children and turned them into a well-oiled machine that made light work of its opponents this year.

“We are super proud of these kids and parents who support us throughout,” Richard said in a Facebook post. “So as our successful season draws to a close, thank you boys and girl for your hard work and always bringing a smile to my face.”
