Panorama runners enjoy Comrades Pasta evening

The runners were treated to a fun-filled pasta evening at Forno Italiano on Saturday, 19 May.

Panorama Running Club’s runners were rewarded for their hard work preparing for this year’s Comrades Marathon with a fun-filled pasta evening on Saturday, 19 May.

The evening was, according to the club’s chairman Alwin Hempel, the club’s own unique way of recognising the hard work that the runners have put into preparing for the race.

The 27 runners from the club also received some goodie bags to add to the rewards.

Panorama Running Club had more than 30 runners looking to tackle the Comrades at the beginning of the year, but numbers have since dwindled due to injuries and lack of training, according to Alwin.

The group will feature two novice runners as well as two runners who will be running their 10th Comrades.

The runners from Panorama will be joining thousands of others on 10 June to tackle this year’s Comrades, which is the 89km down run (from Pietermaritzburg to Durban).
