Drummies gear up for nationals

Competition hosted by Team West

Team West, consisting of Kruiner Drummies and Roodebeeck Cheerleading and Majorettes, will be hosting the fourth Gauteng Majorette and Cheerleading Association (GMCA) competition.

It will be taking place on 12 May from 8am at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium, and the event promises to be spectacular.

Thirty five teams from primary and high schools, as well as tertiary groups, will be competing in the cheerleading and large drill competitions. Scores from each competition in which the teams have participated will be tallied up and will contribute to the final score at the national championships.

The South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (Samca) National Championships will be taking place in Oudtshoorn in July, and the Roodebeeck Cheerleading and Majorettes will be participating.

Because it is the Kruiner Drummies’ first year of competition, they have only entered in one category, and do not qualify for national participation. However, their aim is to qualify next year.

For more information on the competition, contact Jolene on 083 525 7661, Tammy on 074 469 2111 or Lindi on 082 840 7772.
