New 5-a-side league to be introduced at Maraisburg

Anyone welcome

The Maraisburg Soccer Inn (MSI-5) will soon be boasting two mixed league 5-a-side soccer teams.

“We have been playing 5-a-side soccer for the past four years, but we only had teams in the normal open league. Then Steve Welman, the coach of the Rosé Royals from Randburg, approached me and asked if we would be interested in hosting a mixed league, and I did not hesitate to say yes,” said Jehan Leon, the owner of MSI-5.

Mixed teams consist of nine players, and can be made up of men and women of all ages.

Steve added that their leagues are based in Randburg, and, even though they are fairly successful, they needed to find a place a bit closer to home, and that is why they approached MSI-5. “We will bring at least two settled, in form teams when we move here, and we are very excited to start playing in the mixed social league, that will take place on Sunday afternoons,” he explained.

They will be hosting an exhibition match between the Rosé Royals and MSI-5 Invitational team on 22 April from 3pm, and are urging everyone who is interested – either in joining a mixed side or entering a team – to join them. The game will be played at Cecil Payne Stadium, Maraisburg.
