Euro Soccer Schools recover their pride in second game against Alma Mater

Newly launched Euro Soccer Schools (ESS) Roodepoort played two matches against Alma Mater International School on Wednesday, 4 April.

ESS Roodepoort launched in January this year, with its home initially being Roodepoort Sports Ground on Exner Street. They have, however since moved to the South West Gauteng College’s Roodepoort West Campus.

ESS Area Manager, Junior Mwela, emphasised during their launch that they are not an elite academy, but rather one where anyone can join and train.

“We are not looking for professional players, but welcome anyone who has a passion and love for the sport, as we want to create elite players for the future,” Junior said.

“Those who form part of the club are not only players, they’re also family members and are treated accordingly.”

He also highlighted the fact that they offer the children an alternative activity, keeping them off the streets and preventing them from participating in unsavoury activities.

“We offer them the opportunity to play matches, not just at home, but away too. This way they get the chance to meet new people and make friends as well.”

Their most recent outing came last Wednesday, 4 April, when they played two away games against Alma Mater International School.

ESS fielded a youthful team, comprising mostly U/11 and U/12 players for the U/13 match, which they lost 1–4.

The U/16 side managed to turn things around however, as they ran out 8–3 victors thanks to four goals from a rampant Siyanda Somacele.
