Maragon all set for final swimming gala

Maragon Ruimsig Primary School has had a stellar swimming season thus far, and is set to take part in the final gala of the season on 9 March.

The swimming team from Maragon Primary School which takes part in the Johannesburg B League, has managed to make it unbeaten through four galas so far this season.

The spectacular form that the swimming team exhibited throughout has led to them finishing in the league’s Top 5, and led to them taking part in the final gala on 9 March.

Schools participating in the gala will be Fontainebleau, Blairgowrie, Charterhouse, and King’s School Robin Hills.

Candice Burt, the master-in-charge of swimming at the school, believes that the swimmers have the right mix of dedication and enthusiasm, while their coach, Tracey Hemphill, believes the team’s focus has been the driving force behind its success this season.

“I think the most important thing that has contributed to our success is the focus on team performance. There are no individuals in the team, and all decisions are taken in the best interest of the team as a whole.

We have taught the team how to race, by running a race pace program that focuses on how a child needs to think and what elements really need to be the focus during their events.”

At the time of writing, the results of the gala were not yet available.
