5-a-side soccer back under way in Honeydew

Honeydew soccer gets back under way on Monday, 15 January.

Honeydew’s 5-a-side soccer leagues have been running since 2012, when founder JP Smith initiated the programme because of his passion for soccer.

“I have a passion for sports, with a particular interest in football, having played overseas myself,” JP said.

“After being involved in 5-a-side arenas for many years, I thought it would be great to be able to open up my own arena and offer people in the area the opportunity to play without the high costs found at other arenas.”

Ever since, the league has grown exponentially, with JP having to expand the set-up and open a second field in 2016.

The leagues now take place every evening from Monday to Thursday, beginning at 6.45pm, with matches taking place every 45 minutes.

Fridays through Sundays are for social games, while tournaments are played quarterly to offer an added bit of competition.

If you wish to get involved with Honeydew’s 5-a-side soccer set-up, feel free to contact JP Smith on 082 338 1006 or simply visit their website, honeydewsoccer.co.za.
