The Roodepoort Parkrun went off without a hitch on Saturday morning as over 500 park-runners attended the event to help celebrate the parkrun’s international birthday.

The Roodepoort Parkrun went off without a hitch on Saturday morning as over 500 park-runners attended the event to help celebrate the parkrun’s international birthday.

The sunny weather was a perfect complement to an already exciting day as park-runners joined in on the fun morning. The 5km timed event held at the Len Rutter Park kicked off with a vibrant crowd who were thrilled to be alongside health enthusiasts who marched towards their personal set of fitness goals.

Fastest time completed was recorded by Thuso Motsaapheko at 18 minutes, 28 seconds, followed by Thami Nyembe at 19 minutes, 13 seconds. It was a particularly special parkrun for Thandi Zililo, who completed her 250th parkrun, joining Bruce Fordyce in the incredible achievement. Overall, the organisers were pleased with the turn-out and are eager to grow their parkrun family.
