Fans treated to exciting matches at Hillfox Shopping Centre

Wrestling fans were treated to exciting and thrilling matches at Hillfox Shopping Centre when Honour Wrestling Association (HWA) hosted a wrestling show this weekend.

The association’s stars were out in full force to entertain the hundreds of shoppers who came to watch the spectacle.

The entertainment kicked off with a Triple-Threat match as high flyers Griffon, Mr Money and Gravity took on each other. Griffon had the crowd on the edge of their seats as he relied on his aerial manoeuvres from the top rope and the footbridge above the wrestling ring to thrill.

Mr Money and his smooth moves had his two opponents gasping for breath while Gravity had the audience in stitches with commentary in between kicking and punching his opponents. The three wrestlers were daring but it was Gravity who took the victory, pinning Griffon after a ‘frog splash’ from the top rope had wiped out Griffon.

Although it was a hard-fought victory, Gravity was still not satisfied. He followed Griffon back to the change room and slapped him in the face.

The entertainment continued when wrestler Dirty Jackson made his entrance into the ring. Fellow wrestler Steve Eden asked him to apologise to Record journalist Sony Antonie for attacking him at the previous show hosted at Hillfox. Dirty Jackson refused to apologise and instead chose a No-Disqualification match against surprise opponent Hector Pain. The duo left nothing behind as they wrestled in and outside the ring, beating each other with batons and computer keyboards. It took a kick to the chin from Dirty Jackson to knock out Hector Pain for the three-count.

Then it was the turn of the wrestler straight from children’s nightmares, The Ripper, taking on The Jackal. The match was like a grudge affair as the duo attacked each other with fierce gusto. The two wrestlers were even trading blows throughout the match. Then The Jackal spat out a red liquid, blinding the referee instead of his opponent. But this did not deter The Ripper who quickly took down The Jackal with his finishing move for victory.

The main match of the day saw The Crow, accompanied by Dirty Jackson and a guitar, take on nine-times Springbok champion Steve Eden. The crowd got involved in the match as the big wrestlers traded blows, using any means possible. From inside the ring to outside, no place was safe as the wrestlers even used staplers in their attack.

The turning point of the match was when The Crow, having taken out Steve Eden and about to go for the three-count, was interrupted by Dirty Jackson. He used the guitar to try to deal further damage to Steve who was already down. The Crow held Steve’s arms behind his back and Dirty Jackson swung the guitar, aiming for Steve’s head. But quick reactions from the Springbok saw him dodging the blow, which landed on The Crow who was down for the count. Steve did not waste any time and pinned The Crow for victory.
