Florida triumphs in Lenasia Premier League

Florida Cricket team sweeps past Orange Farm in LPL

Florida Cricket Club’s U/15 team took on its Orange Farm Cricket team counterparts in the Lenasia Premier League fixture. Florida won the toss and elected to bat first, taking advantage of a wicket which favoured batting upfront.

The team sent Darian de Bruin and Vikash Rangasamy, players who are not regular openers, out to the crease. This proved to be a stroke of brilliance as the pair put up a partnership of 78 runs off 48 balls. Darian was bowled out for 38 runs off 23 balls, leaving the scoreboard on 78 for only one wicket.

Vikash followed his opening partner to the dugout as he was bowled out 30 runs later for 41 runs off 25 balls. The score was on 108 for a fall of two wickets. The following batsmen failed to set off the fireworks but helped Florida set a total score of 128 runs from 14 overs with a fall of four wickets.

With the batters having done the job for Florida, it was time for their bowlers to claim the victory for their team. Camron Govender was the pick of the bowlers. Camron bowled one over at a cost of three runs and claimed two wickets. Mohamed Qureshi, Reggie Lethbridge, Akhil Araf and Johan Mahne each picked up a wicket as well as two run outs, to bowl Orange Farm out for 82 runs from 14 overs with a loss of eight wickets.
