Golfers do it for charity

Annual Golf Day a huge success

“We want to thank everyone that came out and supported us. Without you, we would not have been able to make a success of this day,” said Sandy van Heerden, the club’s Public Relations Officer.

The Lions Club of Wilro Park hosted their annual golf day at the Ruimsig Country Club recently, and it was a huge success.

A representative from Cunninham Lindsay hands over a cash donation to the club’s president, Rajes Naidoo.

The golf day is one of this club’s major fundraising events that enables them to raise the necessary money to undertake various projects. “Without the money raised from our golf day, we would not be able to do the projects we do throughout the year, to help those less fortunate than ourselves,” said Sandy.

The day’s activities started in the early morning, and golfers could enjoy playing a round of golf while supporting charity. Everyone had a lot of fun while participating in the various golf-related competitions and after playing the last hole, everyone was able to enjoy a lovely dinner.

During the dinner, the prizegiving was held. Riaan Bosman was crowned as the winner of the day and walked off with a grand prize to the value of R3 500. One of the day’s sponsors, Cunningham Lindsay, also handed over a cash donation to the club’s president, Rajes Naidoo.

Rudi Heerschop was the winner of the lucky draw and received a prize of a wine cooler and 18 bottles of KWV wine.
