Albion suffers loss at home

Exciting match at Trezona Park

Football fans were treated to an exciting match when Florida Albion Football Club’s senior team hosted the D10 Football Club from Diepsloot in the DSL 1 League recently. The match at Trezona Park in Florida thrilled supporters as both teams attacked, but the real battle was in the midfield.

Both teams tried to take control of the match in the heart of the field to provide chances for their attackers. However, missed chances on both ends of the field saw the first half end with no goals registered. In the second half, both teams started off with purpose and added impetus to score a goal, but it was D10 who broke the deadlock to lead the match 0–1.

After scoring, the D10 players were calm and disciplined in ball possession as Florida fought hard to find an equaliser. The goal for Florida did not materialise and the match ended with a 0–1 loss to the home side. Florida player Leon van Rooy said his team created chances but were unable to capitalise on them.

“The match was a fair contest and of high quality. Florida had ample chances but did not capitalise on them. Once the opposition scored, they kept their shape well and protected their lead. They have talented young players who performed well.”

Florida will be working hard during training, incorporating the lessons they learned during their loss to the Diepsloot team.
