Five judoka from the West Rand Judo Association returned with medals from a tournament earlier this month.
They competed at the South African Open Judo Championships held in the Callie Human Hall at the University of the Free State.
Christelle Goliath was awarded a gold medal in the individual category and a silver medal in the team event.
Shaylin van den Heever and Carlin Anthoney received a silver medal each for their performances in the team event. Tyla Stacey-Hale won two gold medals in the individual category and team event respectively, as well as a bronze medal in kata.
Shawwal Bagaria was also a big winner as she took a gold medal in the individual category, a silver medal in the individual category as well as another silver and a bronze medal in kata.
