Whether you know the game or have never set foot on a netball court, Friday friendly netball league matches at Hillfox Action Sports Arena are fun for the whole family.
Friday netball administrator, Tercha Barkley, said no matter your age if you felt you could play, you were more than welcome to join a league. All that is needed is a team name and a manager and Hillfox Action Sports will be in contact with the team manager to discuss fixtures and payment.
Teams who wish to play must confirm by Monday each week. From these teams, a schedule and fixtures are drawn up and handed out by Thursday. Matches start at 5pm on Fridays.
Barkley said, “You cannot believe the growth you see in the young ones. We really are a little netball family where we look out for one another. It really is just nice social, family time.”
The youngest players take to the courts first for their 30-minute game. Two teams which kicked off the league matches on 9 June were I Love Netball and Welties.
After a close match in the first half, I Love Netball got the better of Welties in the second half to win 6–3.
“My team is the smallest and youngest at the arena and they go out and give it there all,” said coach of Welties, Kristin Stewart. “Win or lose they come off the court with a smile on their faces and they have had a ball.
“Most of the girls play at Welteverden Park Primary School. Their love for netball is unbelievable. Thank you Hillfox for giving our girls the drive and inspiration to love and enjoy the sport of netball.”
