Coert in with a chance

Make it to the top

Local golfer, Coert Groenewald is perfectly poised as he competes with fellow golfers in the Sunshine Tour Qualifying School. The purpose of the qualifying school is to play with professional golfers in the Sunshine Tour and compete with top golfers.

Coert improved his chances of a return to the big leagues with a seventh place finish in the first qualifying school tournament of the year.

The event was hosted at the Randpark Golf Club, where Coert carded a 12-under 348 in five rounds to finish eight strokes behind the winner, South African amateur Herman Loubser.

Coert will now have to concentrate on two big qualifying tournaments this month to keep himself in contention. He has entered the Zimbabwe Open which will take place at the Royal Harare Golf Club, and the Zambia Sugar Open which will be held at the Lusaka Golf Club. These tournaments will be held later this month.
