Florida Cricket Club claims victory

Florida Cricket Club beats Lenasia counterparts

Florida Cricket Club’s second team hosted their Lenasia Cricket Club counterparts in the 2nd XI Sunday Three League earlier this month.

Lenasia won the toss and decided to bat first but their decision would prove to be their undoing. Florida’s Roshen Sage was clinical with the new ball, sending Lenasia’s opening batsmen packing with two runs on the board. Florida’s bowler, Kai Page, also joined in on the fun and took two quick wickets, leaving Lenasia reeling with four wickets down.

Middle-order batsman, Shivesh Coopoo, tried to steady the innings but he had no help from the batsman at the other end. Shivesh watched the wickets tumble at the other end and guided his team to a total of 76 runs all out.

Florida’s Roshen took two wickets at the cost of 20 runs; Kai was superb, taking two wickets for 19 runs, while Vikash Rangasamy also took two wickets, for a mere 18 runs. But the bowler with the best figures was JP King, who took three wickets for just 18 runs.

It was then Florida’s turn to chase down the total of 76 runs and their batsmen JP King and Matthew Vickers had an easy time of it. Matthew hit 39 runs off 59 balls, including eight boundaries, while JP reached a respectable 25 runs off 46 balls, including three boundaries.

Florida reached their target with no wickets lost, making it an emphatic victory for the team.
