Florida hosts exciting Inter-club Time Challenge

Florida Running Club hosts challenge

The Inter-club Time Trial Challenge returned to the West Rand once again when the Florida Running Club hosted the event.

Athletes from running clubs such as Krugersdorp Road Runners, Roodepoort Athletics Club, Golden Reef, Panorama and Khosa Running Clubs participated in the event. The 5km race was successful with the help of MiWay Life which breathed new life into the challenge this season.

To accommodate the runners and have a safe race, the Florida Running Club configured their race route which brought excitement to the event. Runners collected points and the club with the most points was declared the overall winners.

In the women’s category, Lauren Felton claimed first place with a time of 22.07 while Carmen Walker-Campbell was right behind her in second place. She finished in a time of 23.28. Ronelle Heynes rounded off the top three after starting the race nearly two minutes late. She claimed third position in a time of 25.29.

In the men’s category, Samuel Cornelius crossed the finish line in first in a time of 19.04. He was followed by Ian Havenga who claimed second position and first among the junior runners. Ian completed the run in a time of 19.23. Siseko Mabala was in third position, with a time of 19.44.
