Allen Glen dominates the rugby field

ALLEN'S NEK – A momentous sports day was held at Allen Glen High School with excellent skills being shown on the rugby field.

 

The school hosted the rugby teams from Midrand High School and Maragon Private Schools in Ruimsig.

Allen Glen’s director of sports, Hennie van Vuuren said, “Both the Maragon and the Midrand players were very well-mannered and respectful and we look forward to playing them again at a later stage.”

The scores for the netball games were as follows:

Allen Glen’s U14A lost to Maragon 38–0.

The U15A side also lost with a score of 17–9.

The first win for Allen Glen was against the U16A team were they won, 24–4. However, Maragon continued its winning streak with the U17A’s winning 14–3 and their 1st team winning with a score of 37–17.

The tension and competition was at fever pitch on the rugby side with Allen Glen winning all its games.

U14: 54–0 against Midrand

U15 : 29–7 against Maragon

U16: 66–0 against Midrand

2nds : 27–0 against Midrand

1sts: 64–7 against Maragon

Van Vuuren added, “[It] was a great stepping stone for Allen Glen High School’s sport. Never before have we ever been strong enough to take on Maragon as opponents. This proves that with hard work, determination, commitment and a love of sport, even the toughest opposition may be beaten.”
