Boxer gets his rematch

Witpoortjie middleweight boxer Wynand Mulder is chomping at the bit to get a rematch with Kongolo Tsimanga.
The two boxers fought to a draw on points in their bout last month at the Blairgowrie Recreational Centre. This was Wynand’s first fight in almost three years, after he tore a bicep tendon fighting against Walter Dlamini, and he said he was nervous heading into the ring.

However, the boxer is unhappy about the result of the bout and added that he should have emerged victorious.
“For my comeback, it was a good test, and I enjoyed every second of it. It was a good hard fight. But I just don’t agree that it was a draw.

I should have won. All of that hard work and there is no clear result. I’m sure my opponent felt the same way,” he said.

Now that Wynand will be getting his rematch against Kongolo, he is determined to ensure the outcome is different from the first bout.

“When I step into the venue, I’m already shutting out external distractions. All I’m focused on is the ring and my opponent. I don’t hear or see anything else. I just become fully committed to the fight. I am a bit of a showman and I like being the centre of attention, so being in the ring is exciting, but I can’t fully enjoy it because I have a job to do,” he said.

After analysing his performance in Blairgowrie, Wynand has promised an even better fight. He said,
“I urge the community to come out and give us their support. I will be a lot more aggressive this time around and will be throwing a lot more punches. They can expect a thrilling and exciting boxing match.”

The rematch will be hosted at the Krugersdorp Centenary Hall later this month before Wynand takes a month’s break. After the break, he will have to get himself back into gear as he will be preparing for another bout early in the new year.
