Tegan Malherbe grabbed a bronze medal while his clubmates Ivan Olivier and Hunter Erasmus claimed silver medals at a recent event.
The threesome from Doryoku Judo Academy were participating in the 2016 South African Judo Schools Tournament. Tegan from Curro Krugersdorp was participating in the 13-to-14-year-old group. Ivan from Laerskool Roodekrans and Hunter from Hoërskool Florida were also in the group. They claimed their medals in the advanced section of the tournament, showing off the progress they have made this year.
With 13 novice and nine advanced judoka, the academy managed to bring home 15 medals overall.
The club will now hold a judo clinic to polish off on what was learned during the tournament, followed by an awards ceremony to celebrate those who had a strong impact on the club.
