Cole to represent Central Gauteng

Florida’s young golfer Cole Stevens is proving that his hard work is paying off. He was selected recently to represent Central Gauteng Golf Union at the U/19 Junior Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT). The competition will be hosted by the Mpumalanga Golf Union at the White River Country Club from 11 to 16 December. He was chosen alongside seven other junior golfers from clubs such as Ruimsig, Randpark and Eagle Canyon, showing off the strong talent from the West Rand.

With his impressive performances this year Cole has shown he belongs in the team. He participated in various competitions such as the Curro International tournament where he earned the right to compete at the 2016 final held on the French island of Réunion. He placed fifth at the 2016 World Amateur Golf Audi Reunion and achieved the longest drive of the tournament. Cole also won the Glacier Junior Series and was runner-up in the Nomads National Order of Merit after losing in a play-off.

When he participates in the final of The Golf School of Excellence’s 36 hole tournament at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club, Cole will be looking to fine-tune his game ahead of the Junior Inter-Provincial Tournament. He will also participate in the South African Golf Development Board’s Interprovincial tournament and Joburg Junior Golf tournament. Cole will use these tournaments to get himself ready and a victory will work as a confidence booster going forward. Cole is currently ranked in sixth position on Central Gauteng Golf Union’s Junior Order of Merit.
