RAC to host summer runs

Running season in full swing

There is a busy summer ahead for the Horison-based Roodepoort Athletics Club. They will be hosting their Early Summer Trail Run on 2 October at the Avianto Estate Clubhouse and Sports Park in Muldersdrift. The 12km race kicks-off at 7.30am, but those who want to take it easier can participate in the 6km race, which starts at 8am. Participants will be separated into batches, with batch A consisting of the fast runners, and group H comprising the slowest. Pre-entries are limited to 800 athletes and close on 26 September. There will be no time restriction on either distance.

There will be six categories for runners to slot themselves into, namely a junior women’s category, a junior men’s category, one for master women, another for master men, and one each for veteran men and women. Medals will be given to all finishers and there will be spot prizes up for grabs.

Results will be posted on racetime.co.za and summertrailrun.co.za.

On 5 October, the club will be taking the baton from the Golden Reef Running Club as they host the second round in the West Rand Interclub Series. This 5km series will have runners from Krugersdorp Road Runners, and the Panorama, Khosa and Florida Running Clubs.
