Xstatic Dance shines at championships

Dancers excel at championships

A number of dancers from the Xstatic Dance Studio and Productions recently participated in the SA Dance School Championships.

The studio’s head, Lindy Liebmann, was delighted with her dancers’ efforts which yielded six gold medals, 10 high silver medals, 10 silver medals and six special mentions.

The studio’s junior hip-hop group, called FUN, and the senior freestyle soloist, Tenicke Smit, were the big winners in the competition.

The FUN dancers, Rahil Singh, Lameez Adams, Elly Winnaar , Niandre du Preez and Kianah Govindasamy were awarded a gold medal and received special mentions for Best Group Effort, Best Junior Group, and Best Show Case group. Niandre added another gold medal to the studio’s tally in the Junior Hip-Hop Solo category. Elly also won a gold medal in the Junior Open Solo.

The senior freestyle soloist, Tenicke, won the Best Overall Senior Freestyle Solo category. She also won a silver medal in the Modern Jazz Solo category and a high silver medal in the Freestyle Solo category.
