JOBURG – Cyclists in for an exciting and challenging day with 9th Land Rover West Rand Silverstar MTB Challenge.

Cyclists are in for an exciting treat with the ninth edition of the Land Rover West Rand Silverstar MTB Challenge on 10 September, offering its traditional 20km and 40km options on the Krugersdorp Ridge.

Route director, Darren Herbst has been working hard in recent months to ensure a memorable off-road experience, which will start and finish at the revamped Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp. The 20km ride includes a manageable 400m of climbing. Herbst explained that the competitors in the 40km race will have a slightly different experience with a 700m ascent.

“There will be a few technical sections to test the legs, but it will all flow through to create a great overall trail. At least 30km of the course is custom-built,” said Herbst. A remarkable floating bridge that was built last year will also greet riders. “The views are amazing and in some sections, you can see the whole of Joburg,” said Herbst.

He added that the route design includes a variety of different terrains to give riders a wonderful mountain biking experience.

Go to www.asgevents.co.za/silverstar for online entries and more information. Otherwise, late registrations could be made on 10 September between 6am and 7.45am. The 20km costs R190 to enter and the race starts at 8.15am. The 40km race is R240 and starts at 8am.
