Hermanus van Staden was right on target with his rifle when he recently competed in the British Junior International shooting competition.
The competition was held in the UK during August and 99 athletes from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Denmark, Lithuania and South Africa participated.
Hermanus was part of the South African team of seven who bagged 12 medals in total; set a new South African record, and were honoured with the medal of appreciation and sportsmanship by the British hosts.
During the competition, Hermanus helped his team qualify for the gold medal for the 3P x 20 team event, which Team South Africa won. He went on to compete in the Sporter Air Rifle Grand Prix 10m event, finishing in third place and winning a bronze medal. He won another bronze medal when he finished in third position in the Air Rifle Sporter 10m event.
