Riccardo is number one

Riccardo excels at nationals.

Maragon Private Schools’ Riccardo Colandrea has been selected for the South African Junior team to compete in the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Gymnastics.

The event will take place in Walvis Bay in Namibia this October. Riccardo qualified for the competition after he excelled in the recent Artistic Gymnastics National Championships held in KwaZulu-Natal during the first week of July. At the competition, Riccardo was named Individual All-round champion in his HP4 category after winning three gold medals on bars, parallel bars and rings. He followed it up with two silver medals on vault and pommel, and a bronze medal on floor. He will be joined by Visions Gymnastics club mate Ruan Lange who finished second behind Riccardo in the All-round championship. Derick Scholtz will accompany the gymnasts to Namibia as team head coach.
