League puts players on their landing foot

The action netball league will take place until September whereafter the third season will begin.

The second season of action netball was in full swing at Hillfox Action Sports Arena’s three netball courts, which are constantly filled with players from all different walks of life.

This action netball league will take place until September whereafter the third season will begin. The league is open to all ages and teams of all-female or mixed teams of seven players on each side can take part. It is important that each team play at least three games in order to qualify for the finals, where teams can win gold, silver or bronze medals.

Graeme Hare from the arena, explained that action netball differs from outdoor netball as it is played inside a netted arena. “The net could be used for or against you. We have a saying that the net can bite,” said Hare. One game lasts 35 minutes.

The netball league takes place every Monday and Wednesday at the arena and junior netball takes place on Fridays. Hare explained that you would need to contact the arena to enter a team but, unfortunately, entries have closed for this season. “An individual can write their name in a register at the arena and should a team require a teammate, a name will be selected from the register,” said Hare.

With fast-paced games taking place twice a week it is clear that people from Joburg and further afield are ready to get into shape while competing in a game of netball.
