Trail running enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing the true beauty of the Magaliesberg at the 4th annual FNB Platinum Trail Run that will take place at the ATKV in Buffelspoort on Sunday 22 May.
“Entrants can look forward to experiencing the true beauty of the Magaliesberg with its pristine vegetation and magnificent views over the Buffelspoort Valley.
Running adds a different perspective to the experience of being out in the mountains.
The longer 24km distance is regarded as one of the toughest, but most enjoyable trail running events in the country.
The stunning views and scenery from the top of the mountain will make all the exertion worthwhile,” said FNB Platinum Trail Run Course Designer Harry SchuberT.
Defined by its exclusivity and terrain, trail runners can look forward to experiencing some of the best trails on offer in the area.
Featuring a 24km, 12km and 8km route, runners will be spoilt for choice.
Sunday, 22 May :FNB Platinum Trail Run
Event: 24km FNB Platinum Trail Run
Start Time: 07:00
Entry Fee: R300
Description: The 24km routeis best suited for experienced and well-conditioned runners. Although it will be tough, the route is guaranteed to be one of the most enjoyable in South Africa. The views and scenery up on the mountain makes all the sweat and effort worthwhile.
Event: 12km FNB Platinum Trail Run
Start Time: 07:15
Entry Fee: R200
Description: The 12km routewill be the perfect stepping stone to build up experience and confidence for trail running. The 12km route should, however, not be viewed as a novice entry level route.
Event: 8km FNB Platinum Trail Run
Start Time: 07:30
Entry Fee: R120
Description: The 8km route is a good novice level entry distance. It is ideal for participants who have only recently been introduced to trail running and are still finding their stride. It is, however, also ideal for runners that are looking for a hard, fast workout as part of a specific training program.
With the action-packed FNB Magalies Monster Mountain Bike Classic taking place at the same venue the day before, sporting enthusiasts are encouraged to make it a fun filled weekend away with family and friends.
