Hansie out to improve record

Hansie Carr to take on Nkaimeng Leraba later this month

Knockout specialist Hansie Carr will be looking to add to his record later this month.

He will be taking on Nkaimeng Leraba at the Golden Gloves Brawl For It All event at Emperors Palace.

The junior middleweight bout will be six rounds and Carr has been getting himself in top shape ready with the help of his trainer Manny Fernandes at BRD Sports Academy.

Fernandes who has more than 20 years experience in training said he was putting Carr through his paces so he can be fighting ready when he faces Leraba.

“We have been working on strength conditioning and sparring so he can be in good shape in the ring. A week before the fight, we will slow down the intense training and work on Carr’s speed and rhythm. He seems to be peaking at the right time which is exactly what we want,” said Ferandes.

The trainer added that he was confident his boxer will do well because he has excelled in Carr who will be looking to add to his 12 consecutive victories said he was looking forward to getting into the ring.

“I have been training hard so I can be well prepared for the fight. I am very excited to be going up against Leraba and I know I will have a tough fight on my hands that afternoon. But I have a great deal of support from my wife Bronwyn and Manny who has kept me on my toes,” he said.

The event will take place on Sunday 24 April at Emperors Palace.

It is staged by AfricanRing in conjunction with Golden Gloves Promotions.
