Hoërskool Roodepoort was the sole representative of Roodepoort as they participated in the Best of the West Easter Festival.
The event was hosted from the 24 to 28 March at Krugersdorp High School.
This year, eight U/14 rugby teams and 12 first teams were involved such as St. Georges from Harare, the Monnas Kwaggas and Hoerskool Dinamika, Jabulani Rugby Club Pretoria Boys High School Invitation side. New to this year’s showcase was Hoërskool Linden, Hillcrest from Zimbabwe and Hoërskool Ermelo.
The Roodepoort representatives started their festival off with a match against Hoërskool Dinamika.
This proved to be a difficult match as Roodepoort lost 19-5 to Dinamika.
After a rest day, Roodepoort faced off against Pretoria Boys.
The boys from the north proved too strong for the locals and Roodepoort lost the match 25 – 10.
Roodepoort’s last match was against Zimbabwe’s Hillcrest.
This was a tough match which had the spectators on the edges of their seats.
Hillcrest fought bravely and prevailed over Roodepoort 33-27.
In the final match of the festival, Pretoria Boys Invitation beat the home team Krugersdorp High School 18-12.
