Poorte preseason off to a good start

Poorte play first game of preseason

The Roodepoort Rugby Club kicked off their preseason matches this weekend at their new home.

The club hosted Pretoria Tuine at Hoërskool Roodepoort’s sports field.

The club’s U/21 teams took to the field as Poorte prepare for the upcoming Pirates Grand Challenge league season.

The home team showed signs of rustiness and were beaten 49-14.

It was then the turn of Poorte’s second team to take on Pretoria Tuine’s Sables.

In what became a blitz of a match, Poorte showed off their sleek finishing as they scored nine tries past the visitors.

They recorded a 59-0 victory to boost their confidence ahead of the season.

However the day ended in disappointment as the visitors first team could not participate, leaving coach Brian Armitage frustrated as he looks to fine tune his team.

The Roodepoort Rugby Club will now host Cullinan Rugby Club this weekend.
