More than 16 schools from around Gauteng met at the Roodepoort Stadium to participate in this year’s Hoërskool Bastion’s Prestige Athletics.
The NWU-Pukke sponsored initiative was not short on West Rand representatives as not only Bastion but Hoërskole Jan Viljoen, Riebeeckrand and Roodepoort.
These schools’ athletes were joined by athletes from Windhoek High School from Namibia, Hoërskool Pietersburg from Polokwane and Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog from Witbank.
In this competition, school’s participating are divided into groups and sections and athletes compete for points.
On the day there were more than 136 items from javelin to high jump, from discus to long jump as well as track and shot put.
