Learning self defence

Provincial head office’s captain Hennie Bouwer held a self defence and physical training session for women and children at the Bryce Canyon Clubhouse this weekend.

Captain Bouwer covered issues from how to ensure your safety when going to an ATM, how to spot card cloning machines and how to react in dangerous situations if a person is at an ATM alone.

From there, he tackled internet safety and how to keep your information private when going online to not falling for online scams.

He then taught the residents about how to react during hijack situations and went over each step diligently to ensure everyone understood.

Bouwer then went onto cover rape situations, robbery and practical defence.

“It is essential for women and children to be in a position to defend themselves in a dangerous situation,” he said.
