The Lake Heritage Water Festival takes place over two days.

On Saturday there will be a 3-kilometres and 5-kilometres events.

Sunday there will be a 1200m and 600m events.

The 1200m events will be seeded and will start in batches to minimise congestion in the water and ensure a safe start.

During the last 12 months there has been a change in the ownership of the Heia Safari Ranch.

One of the key goals of the new owners is to integrate the Heia Safari Ranch into a larger conservancy that has been setup in the area.

This is not only about supporting the land, plant life and wild life that is synonymous with the area but also to maintain the clean water of the dam system.

In order to support this initiative, Heia Safari Ranch now requires that each swimmer pay R50 towards the conservancy as part of their entry fee.

The conservancy fee replaces the gate entry fee for cars entering the Heia Safari Ranch.

The only cars that will be charged a fee at the gate are those not carrying any swimmers.
