Pupil excel in California

This was the first event of its type presented by PAMA Global.

Ziva Wolf who attends Trinity House in Little Falls, Yarav Maharaj who attends Constantia Kloof Primary School and Ethan Kirstein who attends Laerskool Florida represented South Africa at the 15th PAMA Global Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2015 in San Jose, California on 29 December last year.

They were part of a team of 27 pupils from the South Africa.

At the Culture Centre of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in California, they got to compete in their age groups. The competition involved a series of abacus maths sums ranging in difficulty in each age group.

They competed against competitors from countries all over the world to see who will ultimately be crowned the ‘Champion of Champions’ in their groups.

Ethan was the first South African to participate in the Prize Tournament.

This was the first event of its type presented by PAMA Global.

Fourteen students participated in this event with prize money up for grabs.

Ethan received a Silver Award with US$150 prize.

Ethan is also the only students that has previously participated at PAMA competitions.
