Kate makes Park Run history

Kate becomes youngest runner to reach 100 park runs.

St Catherine’s Convent’s Kate Walker-Campbell became the youngest junior runner to reach 100 park runs as she crossed the finish line early in December.

The 15-year-old started participating at the Florida Park Runs three years ago as her parents are avid runners.

“I’m a shy person but when I crossed the finish line and saw everyone’s happy faces made me happy. And it was nice because I got to reach 100 before my older brother could as he is busy with other activities. My parents have already reached the milestone,” she said.

With interests in hockey, cross-country and ballet, Walker-Campbell now plans to focus on improving her personal best times and being consistent in her other activities.

“I enjoy running, it keeps me fit for all the other extra-curricular activities I have. And being part of a social club where people have the same interests as me is great because I feel like I am part of the team,” she said.
