Aquafins swimmers take gold

LITTLE FALLS – AquaFins swimmers excell at the Eastern Gauteng Aquatic Championships on 7 December.

Local young swimmers from AquaFins Swimming Club excelled at the Eastern Gauteng Aquatics Championships 2015 (EGA).

The championships were held in Delville, Germiston on 7 December.

AquaFins Swimming Club is based at Virgin Active Gym in Little Falls, where well-known coach Sam Veldman attracts swimmers from Randburg, Northcliff and Roodepoort.

Club swimmers are then registered with CGA (Central Gauteng Aquatics) and many of the CGA swimmers were invited to participate in the EGA (Eastern Gauteng Aquatics – Germiston, Boksburg, Benoni, Brakpan) Championships.

The team took first place in the 200m, 4 x 50m freestyle relay at the Eastern Gauteng Aquatics (EGA) Championships.

Seeded in third place, the AquaFins swimmers raced ahead to an exciting finish, beating the Boksburg Aquatic Saints and Mandeville Dolphins.

The AquaFins team also took bronze medals in the 200m, 4 x 50m medley relay, as well as three

individual medals – Orin Rocha took silver for 100m butterfly and bronze in the 50m butterfly, while Connor John Fuller got a bronze in the 100m butterfly.

Jenna-Laine Fuller Curro Aurora School came in the 6th place in the 200m breaststroke finals, achieving a personal best time.

The swimmers were supported by coach Sam Veldman and team manager Michelle Stanley-Fuller.
