Golden Reef duo reach park run milestones

Bill and Cassie share their park run milestones.

Golden Reef Running Club’s duo Cassie Carstens and Bill Brough reached significant milestones as they participated in the Florida Park.

Carstens finally participated in his 50th run while Brough reached his 100th run.

It has taken the duo just over three years to reach the milestones. The run takes place every Saturday at 8am at the Len Rutter Park. More than 400 sweaty bodies gather for the 5km workout.

Carsten is the chairman of Golden Reef Running Club and he was delighted as he completed his run.

“I’ve been looking forward to reaching 50 for a while now. I should have reached the milestone a while back but couldn’t participate due to other commitments. During my wait I was invited to participate in other clubs’ park runs but I wanted to reach my 50th at home,” said Carstens.

Brough, who enjoy the run because of it’s family atmosphere with a focus on youth is also the chairman of the Hiking and Adventure Club.

“I enjoy the outdoors and meeting people. I like to encourage other people to get out more and leave the couch behind. Participating in other races meant I missed a few park runs, that is why it has taken me longer to reach 100,” he said.
