Soccer trials a success at Davidsonville Stadium

Soccer trials conducted at Davidsonville Sports grounds

The Davidsonville Sport ground was bustling with activity as the Mzansi Mayfair Soccer Academy in conjunction with Liverpool SA held trials this weekend (15 November).

The academy is based in Florida and works with South Africa’s biggest soccer talent to help up and coming players.

The academy’s Baber Siddique and Edson Betancourt have been traveling around the country looking for the brightest talent to work with.

The plan is to create a team that will play friendly games with professional teams such as Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and many more.

“Every young soccer player’s dream is to play for a professional team and we want to help expose them. Playing with the best teams in the country is the best motivation for these young players,” said Siddique.

Young hopefuls from all over the West Rand participated in the trials with Mamelodi Sundowns player Leo Castro keeping a close on the action.

The academy promises that players chosen will have the opportunity to participate in training camps hosted in countries such as Spain, America and Argentina.
