Roodepoort Police’s Sports Star
Bonolo Maseng is the proud recepient of this year's Gauteng SAPS Sports Star of the Year award.
The Roodepoort Police have something to be proud of after one of their staff members won Gauteng Sports Star of the Year.
Bonolo Maseng, an accounting clerk has been leaving a blazing trail on the soccer field, karate mat and tug-of-war.
She started being active in sports in 2005 after she wanted to lose weight.
“I was a bit chubby so I decided to join a karate centre. The more I became involved in it the more interested I became. I now have a first dan in karate,” she said.
In the South African National Police karate competition, she came home with two gold medals and two silver medals.
She also won gold in the national tug-of-war competition and two silver medals.
Before winning at the Prestige awards, Maseng was named Sports Star of the Year in the Honeydew Cluster.
