Florries runners tackle Bela Bela

Some of the clubs athletes also participated in the Ironman 70.3 in Durban which consists of a 1,9 km swim, 90km cycle and 21,1 km run

Athletes from the Florida Running Club came back with smiles on their faces after a successful Standard Bank 5150 Bela Bela Triathlon.

The competition starts off with a 1,5 kilometre swim in the Forever Resorts Warmbaths ski-dam before the athletes exit the resort to take on the 40 kilometre cycle course.

The 10 kilometre run then completes the race within the boundaries of the resort.

The clubs Tessa Schellard, participating in the competition for the fourth time, finished 10th in the 45-50 age category with a time of 3.10.

Her fellow members Wendy Joubert clocked in a time of 3.43 while Johan Botha and Pam Sullivan finished in a time of 3.49.

Endri Botha crossed the finish line in a time of 4.02.

“I have done it before and we encourage our club members to participate in as many triathlons, duathlons and road cycling. Our motto is “Inspired by Life,” said Schellard.
