RUIMSIG – One of the Sables Bowling Association's prestigious tournaments, Trips Championships ended on 30 August.

Four clubs from the Sables Bowling Association (SBA) battled it out on 30 August to wrap up the Men’s and Ladies Trips Championships at Witpoortjie Bowling Club (WBC).

The Trips Championships is one of five annual prestigious tournaments within the SBA.

In the men’s category Ruimsig Bowling Club emerged in fourth position while Discovery Bowling Club triumphed and Leases Bowling Club took second and third positions.

In the women’s category Rustenburg Impala triumphed while Leases Bowling Club took second position and Discovery Bowling Club was placed in third and fourth positions.

All the semi-finals and finals were played in the same day by the clubs who progressed through their sections from winning the quarter finals until reaching the semis and the finals.

“This tournament is open to any player in the district. If players are selected in their teams then they get an opportunity to play,” Morton said.

Four of the selected players for the South African National team, Susan Nel, Mike Marnewick, Morgan Movhangu and Nici Neale also participated in the championships.

The SBA president David Parker congratulated all the winners on their achievements.

“We want to thank WBC for sponsoring the Sables Trips Tournament,” concluded Parker.
