Florida Swim Club fare well in championships

Head coach Tracey Hemphill said she was very pleased with the performances of all the swimmers who participated.

Florida Swimming Club’s Alfred Purchase, along with Amy O’Rourke and Callum Thomson qualified for the South African age group Nationals that will be held in Port Elizabeth.

They were participating in the South African Short Course Championships in Pietermaritzburg earlier this month. The three swimmers qualified by swimming national qualifying times.

In the championships, Alfred and Jessica de Beer made it into the top 16 when they participated in the B finals.

“We opted to include some juniors in the team to expose them to national competition and we were incredibly impressed with how they raised their game,” she said.
