Godfrey Mokona still had some energy left to walk away after he grabbed a silver medal at the Comrades Marathon last month.
With a time of 7:20:49, Godfrey ran like a seasoned Comrades athlete, leaving many in doubt if it was his first time participating in the event.
Just a week before the Comrades Marathon started, with a smile on his face, Godfrey jokingly said he was aiming for a silver medal.
“I’m really happy with getting a silver medal. I set a goal for myself and I achieved it,” he said.
With his birthday just three days after the Comrades Marathon, winning silver made it more special.
Godfrey was astounded by the passionate audiences who cheered for the runners.
“Everything about the event is different, from the atmosphere the crowd gives off roadside as you run and at the finish line is amazing,” he said.
