Mixed results for Albion

Florida Albion Football Club’s U/12 team came out victorious against Jeppe Football Club.

The Sunday morning DSL Super League fixture had a six goal feast for fans who came out in support of their teams.
In the first half, Albion’s Zameer Sharif and Olwethu Sibiya gave their team a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the break. In the second half, both teams raised their level.

Simphiwe Makhombe increased Albion’s lead to 3-0 before Jeppe’s Jose Carvalho scored two goals to peg the home side back to 3-2.
In the closing stages of the match, Matthew Goliath scored a wonder goal to increase Albion’s lead to 4-2 before a mistake in defence by Jeppe led to an own goal. The match ended 5-2 in favour of Albion.

Team captain Siyamkela Tshabalala was awarded man of the match.
“The boys played well and stuck to the game plan. We played as a team which I’m proud of. The boys played for fun which then makes the game easy for them,” said coach Dale September.

Florida Albion Football Club’s U/13 team were next on the field as they took on Alberton Footbal Club in their DSL Super League fixture.

In the first half of the match the visitors Alberton were quick off the blocks, scoring two quick goals courtesy of Keegan Faia and Thando Mampane.

In the second half, Alberton’ Ridhaa Noorbhai added a third before a spirited fight back by Albion resulted in goals from Ntokozo “Stocks” Tshabalala and Kaylin Jacobs.

Despite the two goals, Albion lost the match 3-2. Team captain Jaden Watson claimed man of the match.
