Meet Vincent Fibiger, one of the newest Roodepoort Rugby Club’s U/21 players.
The Krugersdorp resident has been part of the club for two months.
“I chose Poorte because they are one of the best clubs in the West Rand. They have passionate supporters which encourage the players to give more on the field,” he said.
The flanker’s debut game came against the Harlequins Rugby Club in Pretoria during the Assupol Series in February. Although the team lost, it was a victorious day for Vincent.
“Just being on the field with the team is amazing. All the players are brothers and to have made my debut against a tough opponent as the Harlequins was a great experience for me. I felt proud to wear that jersey and run out onto the field,” said Vincent.
One of Vincent’s highlight in the Poorte jersey came against Centurion Rugby Club.
“The moment of the match for me was when I tackled one of the players off the field,It felt great because rugby is a physical game,” he said.
With players such as Ritchie McCaw and Jonny Wilkinson as his idols, Vincent aims to be the best flanker and hardest tackler in the world. He dreams of one day representing the Sharks and the Springboks.
