Hoërskool Bastion Street-kilometre race

Hoërskool Bastion held their annual street kilometre race

Hoërskool Bastion welcomed its students with its street kilometre race. The annual race starting from the school to Mindalore Shopping Center is a popular event with pupils and the community.
Those who partake are encouraged to be innovative with their outfits to create a festive atmosphere.
The race also serves to see if there are any potential long distance runners among the pupils.
The event started off with Primary school pupils from various schools around the area competing for victory, wanting to impress those in attendance.
Then it was the grade eight and nine pupils in the junior category and they did not disappoint, racing their hearts out as parents cheered at the finish line.
As the light faded and evening came, it was time for the senior students to compete and they seemed to enjoy the race, taking in the happy and carefree spirit of the event.
They competed in pairs and groups, with some of the senior pupils carrying big stuffed teddy bears on their backs, others blinded with their bright colours while some dressed up as pixies and fairies.
The final two races were the open categories for men and women from the community.
