Tennis school ready for New Year

The Moreton Tennis School is gearing up for the new year.

The Wally Moreton Tennis School had a busy summer, hosting a singles round robin tournament and coaching clinic.

Their annual clinic had 60 children participating and coach Trevor Moreton said the aim of the clinic and tournament is to get children on the court and provide constructive recreation for children in a safe tennis environment.

“During summer, the children come to our courts and play. We want to get them away from the malls and out onto the courts playing,” he said.

The privately owned tennis school built in 1974 boasts six well- maintained courts and is also registered with Tennis South Africa.

People of all ages are welcome to join the club although a minimum playing level is required to be a full member.

Full membership is aimed at players who have played for some years and have previously played at other tennis clubs. All coaches at the club are qualified to conduct lessons.

The club is also proud of its nine matriculants who achieved more than 40 distinctions between them.
