Dusi here we come!

There are five weeks to go till the Dusi Marathon

The Dusi Marathon is only five weeks away and local canoeists will kick off the New Year with some tough races building fitness, stamina and endurance in preparation for the race.

This coming weekend will see the ERK Dusi seeding and training race at Homestead Dam, Benoni. This 22 kilometer course with two portages will provide athletes with a tough workout as they have to run with canoes.

The following day is the Joburg Duzi Assault held at Emmarentia Dam. The course is 20 kilometers.

The Eurosteel Dusi training and seeding race will take place on the 17 and 18 January. The two day competition will start from Crocodile River near Lanseria Airport to Hartebeespoort Dam. The courses are 36 and 24 kilometers with with 7.5 and 4.5 km portages.

The Drak Challenge two day race near Underberg in Kwazulu Natal will take place on the 24 and 25 January.

The SA K1 River Championships race will then take place on 31 January and 1 February. The two day klip interprovincial takes place in Gauteng, from Lido Hotel near Walkerville, through Daleside, Meyerton, and Henley to the Vaal River.

It is then off to the Elands river near Waterval Boven in Johannesburg for some light training on the on 7 February before the first school league sprint races taking place at Roodeplaat Dam, in Pretoria on 14 February.

It is then off to the Dusi Marathon to be held from the 19 to 21 February.
